Winter Walkabout!

Attention: Lions, Tigers, Ringmasters, Big Top and Centre Ring

We are happy to announce this year’s Winter Walkabout is happening on Dec 14-15!

This is a great opportunity for kids to show their parents what they’ve been learning this year! Parents are welcome down on the gym floor and can take photos of their children (and possibly get inspired to learn how to juggle themselves!)

Don’t miss this wonderful event! The full schedule is HERE.

TedxKids BC

Posted on 11/06/2013 at 2:10pm

On October 26th, we had the pleasure of attending the TedxKids BC event at Telus World of Science.

Quinn Beasley, CircusWest coach and performance student gave a moving talk to a packed audience at the OMNIMAX® Theatre. After the talk, we asked Quinn some questions regarding his experience with TedxKids.

Q: What was the theme of your speech?
I would say the overall theme was to express to kids that no matter how depressed you are, no matter how low you have sunk that there is always a way out. That in order to be successful you have to maintain perspective in your life, surround yourself with good people and know that independence and freedom is only achieved through hard work. If you can do all those things nothing is out of reach.

Q: Were you nervous about speaking at TedxKids?
I was very nervous speaking at TedxKids. Being a performer I never get nervous before going on stage because its not you that is in front of all those people it is your character. But with this talk it was all me. I had never been 100 % myself in front of that many people. It was my raw life story and I felt very vulnerable telling hundreds of strangers what I have gone through.

Q: What was your biggest take-away /favourite moment from participating in this adventure?

I really enjoyed hearing the other speakers, especially the kids. Seeing other youth that wanted to make a difference by sharing their ideas and stories was very inspiring to me. They all did a wonderful job.

Q: How was your overall experience with TedxKids BC?
It was fantastic to say the least. It gave me an opportunity to reflect on my life and what I have learned through the struggles I have faced. All the support and positive feedback I received from the organizers, viewers, and those at CircusWest reassured me that my struggle wasn’t in vein and that I can use it to inspire others.

You can check out his talk below. Minute 1:01:30

CircusWest also hosted a workshop led by coaches Jay, Ian and Quinn where many kids had a great time learning how to juggle!
